There is going on labor unrest in Gemini Garments which is situated in Mohakhali, Dhaka. There is happening some different scenario which is made by garments workers. The workers of this factory have made the two owner of this company lock up. These two persons are named Fazlur Rahman, Mangaging Director and Abul Kalam Azad, Director of this factory. They were kept locked up inside this garments factory from last Saturday (14th February, 2015).
The reason of this harass mental situation is, not paying monthly salary of workers in time. The garments authority was incapable to pay workers salary by 10th February. Then the authority gave commitment of paying salary by 16th February. But the owner of this garments factory was trying to escape rather than trying to arrange money to pay salary of workers ( about 525 workers). By getting this news the workers got them from Uttara House Building area and made them locked up inside the factory.
To solve this unexpected problem there was taken place a meeting presence of worker’s leader, Assistant Secretary K.M. Mahmudul Islam and some other respective person. But they could not come in any solution. Monday one more meeting will be to solve this problem.
The Managing director of Gemini Garments Fazlur Raman Said, “We just want to replace the factory to Gazipur. But some people is making this news a issue by saying that we are going to close this factory. We will make all payment paid. I hope tomorrow this problem will be solved”
