    MSP (Minimum Support Price) for Cotton in India

    Indian Government has announced MSP (minimum support price) seed cotton. This announcement is for this current season October 2014-September 2015. By this announcement of India Government the MSP (minimum support price) for -

    • 100 kg (1 quintal) Shankar which is grown in Gujrat will be 65.57USD.
    • 100 kg (1 quintal) Bunny which is grown in Andhra Pradesh will be 66.39 USD.
    • 100 kg (1 quintal) Bunny which is grown in Maharashtra will be 66.39 USD.
    • 100 kg (1 quintal) H-4/H-6 which is grown in Maharashtra will be 64.75 USD.
    • 100 kg (1 quintal) J34 which is grown in North zone of India will be 64.75 USD.
    Cotton collected in India
    The main reason of taking this step by Indian Government is the lower price of cotton in the international market. And though there is now lower demand by china than the supply capability of India, that’s why Indian Government has taken such step of announcing Minimum Support Price (MSP) of cotton.

    Recently there is price of cotton below of MSP level in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Maharasthra and in Telangana. A Mumbai based association of cotton has optimized of getting 40.55 mn bales ( here 1 bale = 170 kg) in this current 2014-2015 crop season of cotton.
