Japan is the Potential Market for Garments Export

Japan is becoming the potential market for garment exports. Japan's exports increased despite the political turmoil. During the current fiscal year (July-March) 50 crores US dollars has gained in garment exports. More than 16 per cent in the same period compare to last year. Clothing importer in the world, Japan is in third position in the sector, the market size of about 32 billion. Such a large market share of the world's second largest clothing exporter think that is a little concerned.

BGMEA President Atikul Islam explain that the duty-free export facility and the source from level three to level twoto relax the rules and bring down the level one for this Japan is becoming the potential market.

According to export analysts, 360 crores dollars will be possible in export earnings from Japan per year. However, Japanese consumers are strictly concern about blue clothing or other product quality issues.

Bangladesh’s garment export to Japan was 25 crore US dollars during the fiscal year 2010-11. After the relaxation rules of origin it has increased 40 crores US dollars during the fiscal year 2011-2012. 2012-13 fiscal year, increasing to $ 48 million and 2013-14 fiscal year, it stood at $ 50 billion.
