Pakistan garment and textiles exports had increased by 5.3 percent to 13.738 billion US$ in 2013-14, with registering a growth of 10.53 percent and 8.67 percent of knitwear and woven garment exports, respectively. But the scene is different in 2014-15. The total exports of Pakistan’s textile sector have undergone a decline of 4.96 percent to 16.005 billion US$ in July-February 2014-15 as against 16.840 billion US$ in the same period of previous year.
The textile and clothing exports in Pakistan during July-February of fiscal year 2014-15 had experienced a titular growth of just 0.47 percent as it reached 9.179 billion US$ as compared to 9.136 billion US$ in the corresponding period of previous fiscal year. But according to the report of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data, in February 2015 textile export has dropped down to 1.087 billion US$ compared to 1.119 billion US$ in the corresponding period of previous fiscal year, which is a decline of 2.91 percent.
After analyzing the product-wise details it is seen that exports of cotton fabric decreased 12.35 percent to 1.646 billion US$ during the period under review, while bed wear exports declined by 0.33 percent to 1.418 billion US$. The export of low value-added products are also dropped down, it’s given in a table below.
But exports of value-added products experienced a raise during February 2015. Exports of ready-made garments witnessed a growth of 20.22 percent and knitwear of 3.57 percent. In February 2015 exports of towels declined 8.34 percent and raw cotton export witnessed a decline of 25.58 percent. But exports of textile made-ups increased by 1.54 percent, other textile materials have increased 10.07 percent.
