World’s First Anti-Theft Jeans Approved by Norton Security

Every year more than 10 million identities are digitally pickpocketed. Criminals use RFID (radio-frequency identification) or NFC (near-field communication) readers to steal personal information including credit-card data, right from our pocket. RFID is the most common tool of identity theft. Thieves use these to scan credit cards straight from our pocket before we even realize it. It’s estimated that more than 70% of all credit cards will be vulnerable to such attacks by 2015.

To prevent info theft using RFID, Norton the leader in online security and Steven B. Wheeler a designer of Betabrand, the San Francisco-based crowd funding clothier are proud to present RFID-blocking jeans. These jeans contain two magic pockets lined with special RFID-blocking fabric, which shields credit cards from scanning devices. We just have to put our credit card in the specific pocket, but cell phones should not be kept in those RFID blocked pockets because it will cause network blockage.

Special types of alloy materials are used to make RFID-blocking fabric. These fabrics block frequencies and the fabric is used on both front and back pocket of the jeans. As it is the most technologically advanced jeans ever, some properties of the jeans are-
    • Fabric: subtly stretchy denim (88% cotton, 10% poly, 2% spandex).
    • Classic 5-pocket style features RFID-blocking front and back pockets (1 each).
    • Gusseted crotch for better range of movement.
    • Reinforced belt loops.
Including this type of technology within an article of clothing is not cheap though. The regular MSRP on the jeans is priced at $168. This product is available on the market from late February.
