Bangladesh garments industry will move forward holding hands with Deshbandhu Group. Deshbondhu Group (DLF) has started a new era for Bangladesh Garments Sector through PSF Plant. The leading corporate house Deshbandhu Group has teamed up with a USA based technology and engineering solution provider Chemitex to set up the nation’s first Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) plant. It will fulfill 40% of Bangladesh’s annual polyester fiber demand. The Chairmen of Deshbandhu Group Golam Mostofa said, they locate Sirajgonj district and he expect the production will start in 24 months.
Chemitex and Deshbandhu Group signed an agreement regarding the plant at the capitals Sonargaon hotel at 12 September 2015. Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu also present at the signing ceremony. |
Polyester staple fiber is produced from synthetic fiber which is strong enough to be twisted into yarn similar to natural fiber like cotton or wool.
The raw materials will imported from Arabian countries, India, China, and Indonesia. After conducting the feasibility study, DFL (Dseshbandhu Fiber Limited) has selected 30 Acres of land at Baghabari Ghat under Shahzadpur in Sirajganj. For set up this plant at a cost of Tk 10 billion. Chairman of Deshbandhu Group Golam Mostafa said.
When this factory will run, it will able to produce 400 tonnes polyester staple fibers per day. The local market is their main target. Bangladeshi makers need more than 300000 tones of polyester staple fiber a year and they fulfill their demand through import. At present Bangladesh imports $480 million of polyester staple fiber a year.
Deshbondhu Groups is targeting to supply 1.2 lakh tones of the fiber annually to the garment factories initially and the export target will be $50 billion, said by Mostofa. He also said that the cost of PSF made from DFL is more than 20% cheaper than that of imported.
The Chairmen of Deshbondhu Group Golam Mostofa hopes more than 2000 employs directly worked and more than 6000 will worked indirectly.
The Chief Guest of this ceremony Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said, “This is the new era for Bangladesh’s textile sector. He also said, spinning mills of our country is fully depend on other countries for polyester staple fiber. This new initiative will reduce the pressure of importers “.
Kamrul Ashraf Khan, the chairman of Bangladesh fertilizer association and Lawmaker, Advisor of Deshbandhu Group Brig (ret) Sarwar Jahan Talukdar, Vice President of Chemitex Ajay Das among others also speak in this ceremony.
