Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is organizing a three day seminar titled as “Bangladesh Apparel and Safety Expo-2015” at Radisson Blue Chittagong Bay View hotel in the business capital of Bangladesh, Chittagong. The main ideology behind the seminar is to explore every possible opportunity towards achieving the vision of 50 billion USD RMG export by 2021.
Business capital, Chittagong, the venue of the event can’t be more reasonable as 95 percent of country’s export and import is handled in Chittagong port. The seminar was inaugurated by TOFAIL AHMED, commerce minister of Bangladesh at Mejban hall at Radisson Blue hotel and BGMEA vice-president NASIR UDDIN AHMED CHOWDHURY delivered the welcome speech.

Participants are showcasing products in 73 stalls, where 17 are for RMG, and two for garment accessories, one for fabrics, and 18 for machineries, one for garment fabrics (local), 25 for equipments, 7 for service providers and two for BGMEA.
Four seminars will be held in this event listed as,
- Branding Bangladesh
- Training and developing skills for strong, sustainable and balanced growth
- Financing apparel growth
- Capacity building of port, customs, power and infrastructure to reach 50 billion USD by 2021
ATIQUL ISLAM, president of BGMEA presided over the seminar and managing director of Mohammadi Group, RUBANA HOQUE performed as moderator. The main article was presented by Dr. SAYED FORHAD ANWAR, professor of IBA, University of Dhaka.
Different country ambassadors like USA, UK, and European Union attended in the event. Different international agencies, representatives of civil society, entrepreneurs, foreign and local exporters, government representatives of different countries, brand buyers and media personalities also attended on the seminar.
Wide range of safety equipment is presented in the safety pavilion of the event to give experimental knowledge to the local apparel manufacturers.
BGMEA hopes that this event will be helpful in exploring new potentials and ensuring safe and sustainable apparel growth in Bangladesh.
