Pre-scheduled seminar on “Financing Apparel Growth” on the second day of “Bangladesh Apparel and Safety Expo”, organized by BGMEA, and was held last Friday at Radisson Blue Bay View Chittagong. Chief Guest of the seminar Mr. AHM MUSTAFA KAMAL, MP, hon’ble minister, ministry of planning, Govt. of People’s Republic of Bangladesh has said that, with proper planning it is not a dream to achieve 50 billion export earnings by 2021.
The key note speakers were Mr. SHAHRIAR ALAM, minister of foreign affairs, Dr ABDUL MOIN KHAN, member of national standing committee, BNP, Banker & Economic Analyst Mr. MAMUN RASID.

Participants on the seminar included members of BGMEA, Head of Bangladesh Bank, NBR, Customs, Taxation, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Relevant Teachers and selected students from different public and private Universities, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce, Editors/Journalists, Emerging Entrepreneurs & Distinguished Guests.
Planning minister said, "It is time for Bangladesh to compete with China, Japan, in the Asia pacific region. Our economy is growing faster and labors are our main asset in this sector. It’s our duty to ensure the safety and satisfaction of the workers. We are to be blamed if a worker dies in an accident because of risky building condition. So this type of risky buildings should be permanently rotted out. We should leave no stone unturned to achieve 50 billion export targets”.
BGMEA president ATIQUL ISLAM said, it’s not impossible anymore to achieve 50 billion export earnings by 2021. We are experienced in this sector and we should push our limits towards the target.
He also criticized the insurance companies as they give no flexibility to take money and the show different law excuse after accident.

BGMEA president demanded to approve a bank for BGMEA and planning minister ensured that he will take necessary steps to establish a bank for BGMEA.
