    India Interested to Invest in RMG Sector of Bangladesh

    India is exploring investment and sourcing opportunities in Bangladesh’s textile and clothing sector. The capability of Bangladesh in textile and clothing sector are now recognized in modern world. Like other countries in the world, India also wants to invest that sector in Bangladesh. For investment, first they want to verify the possibility of this sector which done by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

    Headed by S Karthiresh, a 12-member of delegation of the CII textile mission arrived in dhaka on october 24. In those day FBCCI president Abdul Matlub offers a dinner at his residence to the members of delegation and discuss about many possibility and progress in this sector. Vice president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and other members of the organization were also present.

    On 25 october, a meeting was held among The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) with CII delegations. In this meeting, they express to invest the textile and clothing sector of Bangladesh. They send a written proposal after arrival to their country. Direct or joint investment are available for two neighboring country. It is a great news for our garment sector.

    Bangladesh is looking for investment in the backward and forward linkage industries, where it is lagging behind. CII delegation visited some factories 26 october. They visited a unit of Nit Asia Limited which situated at Shafipur, Gazipur. On October 27, the CII delegations returned to India.

    From the meeting, BGMEA, BKMEA and BTMA informed that delegation want to invest the sectors which have much possibility like as garment factories, spinning mills etc. But we told to invest the sectors where the capacity could utilize. Source of Mills Association(BTMA), meeting with them the textile mission ,they express the interest to invest in spinning mill. But they have invited by us to invest not only the spinning mill but also Weaving mills.

    BGMEA vice-president Mahmud Hasan Khan said that, the delegaton members wants to investing in the clothing sticinye. Another vice-president of the organization Muhammad Nasir also told that we are discouraged to the investor interest where they may be harmed. BGMEA president Md. Siddikur Rahman said, BGMEA welcomes foreign investor in this country.

    Bangladesh also wants to invest in India but they said, several Indian states have different policies.However,some states have most attractive policy to invest. BTMA vice-president Fazlul Haque said, we are able to supply 90 percent of demand yarn by spinning mills. This sector is most covered by us. But there is a shortage of capacity in the oven. For those reason, the delegation are also invited to invest in this sector.
